The parent company, PT. Wijaya Karya, was established in 1960 as a state owned firm. Aiming to become a world-class company, PT. Wijaya Karya decided to go public and listed itself in the Jakarta Stock Exchange in October 2007. Since then, the company has been widely known as PT. Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk, and considered as the biggest construction company in Indonesia. 

PT. Wijaya Karya Bangunan Gedung or PT. Wika Gedung was established as a self-managed subsidiary which focuses on building construction business.
